WORK FOR SESSION
UNEMPLOYMENT RILL BEFORE EASTER. VACATION ECONOMIES REPORT AFTER. RESUMPTION SOME PARTS WILL BE ADOPTED (Press Association! WELLINGTON, arch 17. The Leader of the Opposition asked Air Forbes in the House to-day if ho would indicate what was to he the programme of business for tlo next week or so. All- Forbes replied that, it was proposed after disposing of the Industrial Conciliation and Arbiration Amendment: Bill, to take the Alortgagors and Tenants Relief Bill, .it was anticipated that the passage of that measure would occupy a day or two. The House would then adjourn, possibly on. Wednesday, for the Easter vacation, and would not resume until Tuesday, April 5, with the object of enabling the Government in the meantime to have ’he opportunity to deal with flic Economy Commission’s report. The Prime Minister reminded the House that this report had been supplied to Cabinet in the middle of the business of the session and it was now necessary to prepare such legislation as would 'arise out of it:. He felt, quite certain that by adopting that course it would he possible to shorten the length of the session. A good deal of legislation would be necessary, and once it had been prepared during the vacation it would he possible when the House resumed to put it through with reasonable despatch. He hoped to be able to conclude the session before the end of April. It was probable, added Air Forbes, that the Unemployment Bill would he b rough I down before the Easter vacation. Air Jordan: “Do you -in tend to adopt- the (recommendations of the Economy Commission?” ATr Forbes: “Some parts.”
