A statement was issued by the Commonwealth Statistician to-day to the effect that the returns from trade unions confirmed the conclusions that unemployment had passed its peak and was mending slowly.

In New South Wales tho unemployed fell from 125,000 in ■ August to 115,000 in September, and 110,000 in October. ’
