MATAWIIERQ YARDS. LITTLE CHANGE .IN PRICES. Little change in prices was noticed at the Matawhero stock -sale, where there was. an average attehd•,ance (of buyers yesterday. Store sheep sold somewhat better than had been, anticipated. Fat sheep prices were on about the same level as last sale’s rates. BEEF CATTLE. ■ The beef entry totalled 30. Some first quality cowc, boll: Rolled Angus and Hereford, made £3 7s 6d, ond others, lighter sorts, made £3. Jersey cows made 05s and 455, and two good P.A. bullocks, £4 2s Cd. Prices were.—l Jersey cow, 455; 1 do., 355; 4 P.A.-Hereford cows, well-finished, £3 7s Gd; 4 good-fin-ished Hereford cows, £3 7s Ud; 2 '•Hereford cows, ano small, £3: 1 heavy brindlo cow. £3; 2 solid P.A. bullocks., £4 2s Cd: 1 Jersey holler, £ 17s Cd; 5 good P.A. cows, £8: 7 Hereford cows, £2 12s Gd. STORE SHEER. The entry was 2-100. The sale gcuorallv was fairly brisk and, considering Ihe shortage of feed and the lack of any indication of improvement in tiiat direction, was somewhat better than anticipated. Old eivcs of doubtful character wore hard to quit, but oilier classes of sheep woro in reasonably good demand, while lambs, of which there was a good entry, brought good competition. There were only one or two pens of ,r o od breeding ewes offered. Onelot of good class, ranging from 4-tli to 5-year, was passed at 5s Gd and sold afterwards at Gs Gd. and a pen ol’ 4 and G-tli ewes, all fat, made 5s Cd. Old ewes in fairly good order made Is 9d to 2s 2d; in moderate condition, about Is. and a lew pons in low condition sold at Gd. Lambs sold as follows; 183 .shorn, with size and condition. 0s 9d; 44 meaty ’Downs, Gs 2d; 21 big-framed woolly lambs In forward and -good store condition, 5s 8d; 30 fairly good size and condition, ss; GO shorn, fan* ,siae aoid condition. 4s lid;' small, healthy lambs, 2s Gd. Two-tli wethers made up to Gs ©u for a jien. with a good amount of condition, 5.-, 3d average store condition and 4s 5d in light condition. FAT SHEEP. Tlie fat sheep entry totalled 802, and the sale was about on a par. with the last tsuJc. One or two pens of 2-th and 4-tli ewes made 7s 6d and 7s, but apart from these, ewes made up to Gs 3d for extra good lines, and average pens brought round about os. The lamb entry was larger, and tlio lambs sold from 7s Gd to 12s Gd. Second-grade eves ranged troui 3s Id to 3s 9d. prices were.—Ewes: Go ewes. FEILDIXG YARDS. /Press Association' EEILDING, Jan. 8. At the .stock sale, there were tan' yardings, but prjccs showed no improvement. >lfat lambs rna-de to 13s Gd; tat wotliers to 13s 7d ; fat owes to 9s 2d. Store sheep.—Four-tooth wethers, 10s: b.f. lambs, 7s lid; w.f. wether lambs, 6s. A large yarTing of store cattle came forward'. Store cows made to £2 ss; empty heifers to £2 10s; P.A. steers, heifers, 375; B.A. bulls,' to £3 ss. In dairy stock there was ft smaffij yarding'. Good springing house cows made £B, and heifers, springing, to £4 17s Gd. A large yarding of fat cattle was recorded. Bullocks .made £6 2s.(id; fat cows, to £4 18s; fat Jersey lieifers, £3 7s Gd.
