ACCIDENTS AND DEATHS
FALL FROM A SCOOTER. NINE-YEAR-OLD ROY'S DEATH (Press Association) WELLINGTON, Jan. H. Falling from a scooter as lie was riding down Wadestown Hill on -Monday morning, Peter Grunt Smith, 9 years, received injuries which resulted ill death a few hours later, ft was stated at the inquest that the boy left home with a playmate to ride on the scooter down Wadestown road. Deceased was on the footpath ahead of the other boy, when he skidded or swerved at tho corner, and fell on the road. He got up, and, although crying a little, was able to walk r.ome and told his mother what had happened. He then appeared quite normal, but later showed signs of not being well, and Dr. Young was sent lor and arrived about noon, and tho hoy, who was then unconscious, was examined and put to bed. Tlie doctor was called again at two o’clock, as it was then apparent that there was something seriously wrong hut a few minutes alter the doctor arrived the hoy died.
Jii evidence, Dr. )o'nig said that in his opinion death was due to haemorrhage within the skull. Tlie Coroner returned a finding that deceased died as the result of injuries received when he accidentally fell from a scooter.
