At the w’ool sales 11,745 bales were offered and 10,516 sold, and in addition 1.123 were disposed of ..privately. There was strong .competition from all sections of thq trade. The market was practically on a par with last week’s, closing rates. Greasy merino made tho record price of 22(d. QUTLTER TONE AWAITING LONDON SALES. SUBSTANTIAL RISE IN PRICES EXPECTED. (U.P.A. by Elec. TM- Copyright) LONDON,. Nov. 22. Mr. W. P. Dovereux, tho Australian Wool Council’s representative, reports a rather quieter Tone in the wool market, due to a tendency to await. London sales opening, when ri substantial rise in prices is expected. The British Government’s 50 ' per gent, duty on woollen goods .will have an important bearing in stimulating British competition, hut will curtail the Continental demand.
