The Dominion’s oldest fresh water swimming record was hroken at Hastings on Saturday evening, when Carl Atldnaon, of Napier, added two inches to the existing record for the long plunge. The event was conducted according to official requirements and the governing body will be asked to recognise the feat as a recoi'd. On March 14, 1919, WV. Wilkinson plunged 6oft. 2in. at Hamilton. Since then jail previous fresh water records, except Willcnson’s, have been broken. Atkinson holds also the Dominion 2CO metres breast-stroke record. ahd in his hevday won national championships, all events, in all styles, from 100 yards to a mile.
