SUMMARY .AND FORECAST General Situation Tlie anti-cyclone responsible for the present prolonged spell of eummer weather is at length moving definitely eastwards and a moderate westerly depression is .advancing towards New ZealandForecast Winds: Moderate to strong northerly to westerly, rising to gale force at places south of New Plymouth and Castlepoint, but a southerly change is probable during Friday night oi Saturday"* Seas (N.Z. waters): Rather rough south of Cape Eginont and in Cook and Foreaux Straits; elsewhere moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Strong northerly to westerly and, later, south-west-erly winds and rough seas. Weather: Still warm and sultry in the Eastern provinces and most districts, but unsettled with rain in western and southern portions of the South Island; some thunder probable in the high country; clouds, however, gradually increasing generally and conditions becoming more widely unsettled during Friday, with cooler temperatures setting In later.
