Onlv a small amount of ordinary business came before yesterday’s meeting of the council of the Gisborne Chamber of Commerce. Air. F. R. Ball presided and also present were Alessrs. F. Tolerton, H. H. De Costa, T. E. Toneycliffe, R. W. J. Edwards, T. Corson, A. L. Aluir, C. G. Bloore, A. Wilson, V. E. Sanders, G. A. Nicholls, Dr. R. AI. Gunn and Air. W. Hamilton Irvine (lion. sec.). Mr. W. D. Lysnar, M.P., wrote thanking the chamber for the letter, of appreciation- of his efforts to secure the continuation of the Gisborne-Na-pier construction work. —The letter was receivedThe White New Zealand League forwarded particulars of its aims and objects and asked that the chamber give jts support- to the movement.: — On the motion of Air. Bloore, who recalled that a remit on the same lines had been forwarded by the Gisborno chamber to the annual conference of chambers at Dunedin and was. defeated, it was decided to support, the movement. ■ •
