An instance of an ex-Digger’s remarkable fortitude is reported fro-m Cardiff, where an* Australian', George MoDavitt, aii able seaman, is now m Jiospital witli one arm torn from its socket. MoDavitt was recently stranded in London. Thanks to the help of the New Zealand Government he found a position on the steamer Argus, hound for New Zealand. He was assisting to load tip? vessel at Cardiff when his arm became entangled in a winch rope and was torn off. McDavitt was in agony, but calmly lit a cigarette and .smoked until' an ambulance arrived.
