SECTARIAN ISSUES DEPLORED

WELLINGTON. August 18. The Dominion executive of the British Protestant Association to-day adopted the following resolutions:—• That in the present grave crisis through which the Dominion is pass ing it is imperative that all loyal citizens, above and beyond all considerations of religious creed, should co-operate with thg Government to maintain our national 'security and integrity. , That the.) appeal of tho Premiei for support to a national government is hpartiily. endorsed as,, the best means of meeting tho crisis and hastening the return to prosperity. That this association deplores any attempt, especially at a time of national peril, to divide the community hy sectarian issues, often falsely arid insidiously., promulgated by ungodly and unscrupulous paid agents. \ That an earnest appeal by made to the C’bxist'ianchurches boldly to stand for principles above party,: for charity above sectarianism, for country above stjlf, and thus to. promote the highest possible citizenship. • ■". That this association {staucis 'by tho open Bible as the nation’s charter m civil and religious liberty,, and appeals to all Christians to support tho Bible in .schools, in an effort to secure Bible reading fn. .schools as agreed to by all tho main Protestant churches arid the Catholic hierarchy. ■/ ; ■ ' ■
