Mr. M. J. Truscott, a director of the Auckland firm of Spudding Ltd'., passed through Gisborne yesterday on his wav south.
Mr. W. J. McCulloch, Fields Superintendent- of the Department of Agriculture, arrives iu Gisborne next Wednesday, on one of his periodical visits.
The Governor-General and 'Lady Bledisloo went to Nelsop lust night and intend ,to return to ; Wellington early next week. The trip is being made to allow His Excellency to recuperate after his recent - illness. — P.A.
“Ho has been one of the most faithful employees tho council ever had,” isaid' the Mayor (Mr. D. W. Cole'mau) alt the Borough Council meeting when the. resignation was ■received of Mr. U. Allwood, head gardener for the -borough. Mr. Cole, man mentioned that the retiring officer had been in the council's employ for the past twenty-one years, and during the last five years had not taken a holiday.
