Summing up. hr Justice -McGregor said that it had been clearly proved that the moneys bad been paid over and that the terms upon which it was paid over were tor investment in Ivemballs Theatres. ALLEGED THEFT OF GIFT COUPONS MILD APPLAUSE~UPON VERDICT OF ACQUITTAL Association^ WELLINGTON, July 30. A verdict *>f not guilty was . returned by a jury helore the. Cruel Justice iii the ease of Bcsteio Burtoil, married ■woman, charged with stealing cigarette gift coupons to the value of ££23, the property ol \V. I>. and 11. O. Wills. Evidcuou was given that the coupons were received from storage bins at Mills’, where they were placed pending do-strutet-ion. Tim lie was la mild tempt at applause at the buck of the Court when the verdict was given, whereupon Sir M. Myers issued a stern warning that, such conduct could not he tolerated. Ho ordered the doors to be closed aim the names of the offenders to ho taken. The police, however, were unable to identify the particular offenders. Sir M, Myers sard that ii it occurred again ho would order the court to he cleared.
