TOTAL OF OVER 2.600,000
UNEXPECTEDLY HEAVY AT PRESENT TIME
NEED FOR CONSTRUCTIVE POLICY
(U.P.A. by Elcc. Tel. Copyright.) (Received June 18. 11 p.m.) LONDON, June IS. Commenting on the unemployment, which totals 2,602,86 S at a time when it should have shown seasonal improvement, the Times says*.
“Thore are still no signs from tlio Government of any constructive policy ip help industry and provide work and wages and there is still no sign that it has taken to heart tho lesson of the crisis in Australia.”
Tho editorial strongly urges the adoption of the principle of co-oper-ation and'advocates groups of. firms, which should maintain selling organoverseas. The Government should recognise that the idea that, the Dominions should devoto themselves exclusively to the production of food and raw materials is out of date.
