The sitting Mayor of Chicago, “Big Bill” Thompson, won his fourth mayoralty’ nomination at the Republican primary election on 'luesday’-, defeating Judge John 11. Lyle. The plurality is estimated at 45.000. -the election was one oi the quietest on record in Chicago. It took place in the presence of seven thousand “poll guards,” who prevented all disorder, with the exception of three kidnappings and a few minor fights, without gunplay. The Democrats have selected President. Anton J. Cermak. of the Cook County Board, whom Air. Thompson is expected to defeat at the April elections, due to the entrance of an independent candidate, who it is believed, will decrease Mr Cermuk’s vote. “Big Bill’s” supporters see through the re-nornniation Ills opportunity to carry the fight against prohibition and internationalism into the next Republican National Convention.
