In the course of her endurance swim from Cambridge to Ngaranwahia, Miss • Lily C.opplestone covered 331 miles, thus breaking the .women’s Australian and New,--Zealand record by 3/ miles. -A..../, 'Miss Copplestone ;is . still little more than a girl/being- 21 years of age, Sho is of 'medium height, is powerfully built and lias .several no-, .table aquatic achievements to her credit. .
A little over two years.; ago, she attempted to swim Cook Strait, but was forced to give up the task owing to. the cold, after, being seven hours in the. .water... The. following Christmas, sho swain the Kawhia harbor, and on last Boxing Day_ she swam the Tauranga harbor. * In 1928 she crossed the Lyttelton harbor.
Miss Copplestone. is looking none the worse for her arduous swim. She will shortly attempt to lower Miss Gleitze’s time across Wellington harbor and is confident of bettering it by at least IJ hours'. She will also attempt crossing from Young Nick’s Head to the'breakwater at Gisborne in March:
