ATTACKED BY OCTOPUS
(Special to the Times.) AUCKLAND, Jan. 5. A large octopus attacked Air J. Newton, who is cruising m .the launch Crusader with the Rev. Jasper Cal dor’s party. AVlien they wore at ftfoncy Bay, iueur Cape Colville, it threw a tentacle around his right leg. Air B. Clark, who was near at baud, battered the octopus -with- a large sto-ne, the only weapon available and forced it to release- its grip It slipped into deep water and e-scap-ft is estimated that the tentacles of the octopus were G.jft.' long.
