IMPROVEMENTS ON GREAT WESTERN RAILWAY.

RUGBY, Jan. 1. The Great Western Railway lias has undertaken a big programme of developments including a £1,009,000 scheme for improving and, enlarging Paddington station, and the construction of. £1,200,000 worth of locomotives and rolling stocks,. to be built at Swindon. The whole programme involves £8,500,000, and many different industries will .benefit. New contracts, and. extensions of existing contracts totalling about £2,000,000 have just been issued by tlio Central Electricity Board.
