TO-DAY’S PROGRAMME.
For New Year’s Eve programme at IYA, Ernest and Wendy Luks will present "Merry Moments at the Piano.’’ Tlie Trivolian Trio consisting of piarto, banjo and saxaphone, will make their first appearance at IYA. The Mati Trio will be heard in several popular songs. The second part, of the evening’s programme will be devoted to a special presentation of a novelty programme entitled “A New Year’s' Eve House-Party,” to be produced by Mrs. Zoe ' BartleyBaxter and her company. Dance music will ' follow, bo -bo succeeded by a relayed description of the New Year Eve festivities which always t?,ke place in Auckland round about the Ferry Building. • Three new radio singers will appear at 2YA.—Mr. O. W. Edwards j a powerful bass singer) Mrs. C., W. Edwards (contralto) and Mr. A. H. Thomas and B. French, a . new novelty instrumental duo, will also appear on the programme. Mr. C. Gardiner will recite two humorous numbers. The Orchestriua will play suitable supporting music. From 10 to 11.55 p.m. a dance programme will be given after which a relay of the Watch Night Service, from St. John’s Presbyterian Church will be carried out.
Miss Addie Campbell, who has earned the soubriquet of “The Bendigo Nightingale’’, will be heard again from 3YA this evening. Solo and concerted vocal numbers will he provided by the Avonsid© Male Voice Quartet. Mr. Jock Lockhart will dispense Scottish humor. There will be selections by the Studio Octet. From 10 to 11.45 p.m. dance music will be broadcast, after which the microphone will he taken to Cathedral Square to let listeners know how Christchurch welcomes the New Year.
Appropriately enough, 4YA has engaged the Dunedin Highland Pipe Band for this evening. The pipers will contribute extensively to the •oncert programme from 8 to 10 p.m. and at midnight the strains of “Auld Lang Syne” will float over the air accompanied by the bagpipe music. On the vocal side will he Miss Cooper (soprano) f Mr. J. Simpson: (tenor), and Air. L. J. Neilson (baritone'', singing many popular airs. Marimbanolme items will ho played by Mr. Stewart.
THURSDAY, JANUARY 1. 1931
Two very popular singers Mrs. Laeti'tia Parry (who has included in her items “Ring Out Wild Bells”) and Mr. Albert (Ribbons Taylor (who is also singing some popular songs including dho 'bld‘ : favorite;' r ‘"‘Simon the Cellarer,) will he heard from IYA this evening. A group of instrumental items will he given by Ingall’s Hawaiian Quartet, and Mr. R. Me Knight will play several numbers on the English concertina. Mr. Reg. Morgan and his orchestra will have a very busy evening supplying items during the concert session, and dance music until 11 p.m. A varied programme will be broadcast by 2YA, the vocalists being Miss Myra Sawyer, Mr. William Boardman Miss S. Robinson and Mr. Harry Phipps. The songs will include a number of old favorites. Two humorous sketches will bo given by the Sketchers, and jazz pia-no solos by Mr. Allan Shand. The Salon Orchestra will play suitable incidental music of a light nature. The Salon Quartet of 3YA, Mr. G. Titchener (humorist) and the Studio Octet, will provide a papular programme, which will he followed by a session of dance music.
