HIGH TLACE IN AVORLD’S CRICKET.
(Special To The Times). AUCKLAND. Dec. 30
Referring to the result of the Can-terbury-Auekland cricket match,_ the Star says : “Those who follow cricket records closely will not need to be told wliat a very remarkable victory it was that Canterbury . won. oyer Auckland. To obtain more than 300 in the fourth innings is a good performance. To score more tlian four hundred is something rarely _done. Canterbury actually made the 473-ne-cessary'for victory with four wickets in hand. The -r-eatness of this achievement is best shown by a reference to Wisden. This authority lists only six fourth innings scores higher than yesterday’s total in firstclass cricket, and of these six, three were for completed innings, one for seven wickets and one for eight wickets. and only once before had a higher total been made for six wickets.”
