Polly Moran 'and. Mario Dressier scored a distinct success at the Regent on Saturday night in "Caught Short,’’ the hilarious all-talking comedy drama. This picture will be screened there again this afternoon and-to-night. The story concerns Mrs Jones and Mrs. Smith, who run boarding houses on. opposite sides- oi a street in New York. Mrs., Jones has a daughter, Genevieve; Mrs Smith a son, .^William... M,rs. Jones the widow of a gambler, is very conservative. Mrs. Smith is the /‘take a chance kind.” ' The plot of the picture is concerned largely with The success of the ebullient Mrs, Smith in the stock market, her efforts to convince the doubtful Mrs Jones, anti the budding love affair between Genevieve and William. A bitter quarrel arises between the two wpmen, causing the rupture of relations between Genevieve and William; When Mrs. Smith leaves with her son for the seashore, Mrs. Jones finally'."ucciunbs to the lure of Wall Street. She, too, is inordinately successful, particularly with that, sterling stock, American Cheese. She goes with her daughter to the summer resort attended by the Smiths. There the quarrel ' between the women nndtheir children continues, resulting in preparations for the marriage of William to a pretty stage star.' Just as the knot is to" be tied, the stock market collapses ; the two widows. are united m grief; the actress leaves William at the altar, and the lovers are reuiiited.
