It- appears, however, that the three men went out fishing in a small boat yesterday morning,- and-it.~is. ; presumed that their croft .was swamped,-.as they were returning to land, by a heavy swell which-worked; up through a change iri weather-during the afternoon. The overturned boat was seen coming in. through, the breakers to the-, creek entrance.- about, six .o’clock last ’ evening. Further down the beach, ani oar was found and also parts apparently believed from the keel oP the boat-. The police-and parties of Waipiro ’ Bay ; residents conducted a close search of the shore last evening, but ho trace was found of the missing men. This search was being contiuned to-day and the latest advices from Waipiro Bay indicated that it -was -still --proving fruitless.
