Regret that the state of Mr. ?. \- Beaufov’s health had compelled his resignation was expressed by the chairman, Mr. F. R. Ball, at yesterday’s meeting of the Poverty Bay Electric Power Board and it was resolved to forward Mr. Beanloy a letter from the board expressing appreciation of his valuable services as a member. - A welcome waS also extended to Mr. F. Collin, who was appointed by- the Borough Council to fill the vacancy caused, bv Mr. Beaufoy’s resignation.
The official, farewell to Dr. T. HA. Yalintine, Director-General of Health, who is retiring in March next, will bo held on Mondav next. The Minister of Health (Hon. A. JStallworthy) has stated his intention of being present. On Tuesday there will bo a farewell function arranged by the Hospital Boards’ Associations’ and it- is tmderstood that other functions will follow. Dr. Yalintine, whose connection with public health extends back over three decades, vra* the, medical officer who attended tbe Rt. Hon. R. .J. Seddon during his health recruiting cruise towards the end of his career. Mr. Seddon sent especially for him. The successor to Dr. Yalintine is not expected to bo announced before February next. — Special. • . - ’
