' -The. aeting-Al'inister, qf Industry, Air. J., Beasley, speaking at Glebe Town Hall, attacked Sir Otto Nieineyer) who lie said:
"Has exceeded tho courtesies we extended by interfering iu our domestic affairs. The time has come to denounce hiiii, and the conditions' ho is trying to impose on the Commonwealth, making self-government a farce aiul Parliament an outlived institution.”
Air. Beasley indicated that tho attempt to balance the' Budget would bo abandoned temporarily. He promised emphatically that no Cabinet action would be taken to reduce salaries or pensions.
It is simultaneously reported from Melbourne that the Federal Alinistry will submit to a, caucus for endorsement proposals l’or a reduction of salaries of Commonwealth Aliuisters by 15 per cent., and Parliamentary salaries by 10 per cent; a reduction of salaries of Federal public servants on a graduated scale ranging from 2} per cent, to 12V per cent; now taxation increases on all incomes which arc not - derived from personal exertion ; increased probate and Succession duties; increased excise duties, and n. revision of the salaries tax to include existing exemptions. Sir Otto Niemcyor spent yesterday at private work, declining interviews.

The Guardian publishes, a strange story -that information lias., reached Sydney that New Zealand banks in future will not accept drafts drawn on Sydney firms. Ordinary trade drafts are not. effected..
Inquiry disclosed that owing to the outflow of funds”'to New Zealand as a result of nervousness, owing to talk in certain circles of repudiation, the hanks are moving to prevent the transfer of funds for which'there is na justification- Their action will in no wise embarrass trade relations between Australia and the Dominion.
