11. S. Spong, British flv-half, is so compact of elasticity and so nimble that lie is very. hard to tdcklo; ;C. O. Porter usually fails to get Spong through going for him too high. W. A. Strang marked Spong very well! in tho third-Test, but often allowed the British box of tricks to get away again. Strang’s ’error was . just the reverse of Porter’s The South Canterbury five-eighth had: to come to the. conclusion that he was trying, to tackle Spong too low. Ho wont for Spong’s ankles, and Spong often hopped away from him.
J. Morgan, one of the five-eighths in the Wanganui Itugby team is only 17 years of age. Led by Dr. G. J. Adams, tho president of thq New Zealand Itugby "Union, the Wanganui selection committee, believes in catching them young, and it has given Morgan his place in the touring team to again experience. Morgan is a rather slow, though very tricky, inside hack.
Tho great crowd at the third Itugby Test, in Auckland, enjoyed a race between tall Ivor 'Jones and little At. Corner. Corner got tho ball, in such a position that ho had' to run parallel with the goal-line, with Ivor Jones chasing him, but only just ou,b of reach. Neither man could gain on tho other, and lacking room in which to turn, Corner eventually had to kick straight into touch. The pursuit reminded spectators of a greyhound’s chase of a harp.
