COMMENT OX THE ELAY
Ideal weather prevailed for tUe basketball matches on Thursday md tbo play in most cases showed great improvement. Thd results are:— a <rrade • Wolverine 8 defeated H.S.O.G. 5; Cash Stores 10 defeated Triangle 9;>- Mary’s Secondary 16 defeated Tui 9. , a B grade: St. Mary’s secondary 19 defeated Kiwi 9 ; St- Mary s Old Girls 18 defeated H.S.O.G. 1; Cash Stores won bv default from Knox. In the Wolverine v. H.S.O.G. the passing of both teams was quick and accurate. The attacks of Wolverine though\ handcapped m playing two against throe did excellent work against good H.b. de£eCasli Stores v. Triangle, proved a closed and interesting game for the many spectators, both teams passing swiftly and silently. The intercepting oil the part 'of Triangle defence was exceptionally quick and effective. Cash Stores centres had very good combination. • ■ , , The Tuis started two players short and St. Mary’s goalies were in perfect form and annexed three points very quicklv. As usual the - match was an enjovable, spectacular game as the passing and combination ot both teams was excellent-, the im soalinw was not quite- up to standard and St.- Mary’s .defence was very strong. Seeing both teams .had changed quite a few players since last tb’ey met the game was m no way affected. . , In the St. Mary’s Old Girls T-T £• 0 0. the game was very slow, as' H S O G. were three players short and -St. Mary’s bad an easy" win. H.S.O.G. should take- tlie game more seriously.- . . The Kiwis are improving, but still need more practice; and St. Mary’s had a comfortable win, as thenpa ssi ng was as usual very gooa.
