— " “SWEETIE.” Nancy Carroll, Stanley Smith and a hi" cast of screen and stage favorites are featured in “Sweetie” Paramount’s big 100 per cent, all-talk-ing revue commencing at to-day’s matinee at the Regent. “Sweetie” is a delightful college romance and civos Nancy Carroll every opportunity for displaying her singing and dancing ability. Pelham School, where ‘ Stanley Smith is captain of the .football team, is just across the road from Mis* Twill's School for Girls where Helen Kane is the campus, cut-up. Stuart Edwin is a. lazy Jad at Pelham and Helen has to shoot at him with a shotgun to induce him to go out and play football.. Nancy Carroll, a chorus girl is in love with Stan. She wants him to leave school, marry her and go into the show business. They plan an elopement- and Nancy goes to the school to meet Stan accompanied h v Jack Oakie, a vaudeville dancer. Meanwhile the football roach persuades -Stan that school snirit, is greater than the love of a woman, and when Nancy and her friend arrive Stan tells her that- the marriage plans are oft-. Al.ueh_ embittered against the school, Nancy goes back to New York only to learn that she ha s been declared heiress of a property which includes Pelham School. The school stages a welcome for Nanr-v the new boss. Hit Nancy is still embittered. She thinks that Stanley should ho brought to her own way of thinking about their proposed life partnership plans. Accordingly she orders an English examination, and. rules that football players who tail wit not be permitted to play in the forth cm nir.£ £C«inio v/'-tli Oglm-borpm traditional Pelham rivals.
