WEDDING BELLS
SYTHES-rCOCHRANE, A wedding of much interest was celebrated n,f St. Paul’s Church, Wairoa, on Mqijday afternoon, the contracting parties being Alice Edna ( ocliraiie, third daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Cochrane, of Otakuhu, and until recently a sister on tlie staff of , the Wairoa County Hospital,- and John James Sythes, late of Gisborne. The nuptial rites were performed bv Archdeacon Butterfield. ‘ The bride, wlio entered the church on the arm ot Mr. I. (Mil-field, ol ttishoiife (in the unavoidable.,abselicc of her father), looked charming in a gown of shimmering silver-lace over apple-green georgette. From the tight-fitting sleeveless bodice hung a full-draped skirt, falling to the ground at the bade. Her veil of while brocaded net was worn low over the forehead, a narrow edging of orange blossom decorating the rounded neck line, from' which the . graceful folds fell, to form a train. Wearing silver shoes and carrying a sheaf of white dahlias, chrysanthemums and maiden-hair fern, the bride completed a charming picture. The bride was attended by Miss Elinor .Doric, as bridesmaid, whose jade-green georgette frock trimmed with uneven bands of self-toned ribbons, was shown to advantage with a picture hat of beige straw, trimmed with tulle and russet-colored velvet flowers. She carried a beautiful bouquet of autumn-tinted chrysanthemums to tone. Mr. Sythes was attended by Mr. A. L. Gay. who ably fulfilled fho dirties of best man. The service was fully choral, Mr. Wilfrid Kohn, of Gisborne, officiating at the organ, the bride anil bridegroom leaving the church to the strains of Mendelssohn’s Wedding March. After the ceremony, Miss L. Orol'fc, Matron, held a reception at the nurses’ homo, .Miss Croft, received the guests wearing a irock of iawn satiii- . bea-nte, trimmed with selt-toned. georgette and a smartly-cut green left hat with georgette scarf to match. She carried a bouquet of lemon-color-ed chrysanthemums and maiden-hair fern. During the afternoon the usual toasts were honored and musical items, which were much enjoyed, were rendered by Miss I. Kohn and Mr. W. Kohn. When the happy couple left for the south, where they will in future reside, the bride was wearing a navy blue frock of silk marocain with facings of fawn crepe-do-chine, a closefitting fawn hat, coat of olive green face-coltli and a brown fox fur, (ho latter the gift of the bridegroom.— Star. • ' '■
