i KAHUTIA CLUB. ' The fifth round of the competition for the Hen ness y Vase (fours)- was played on the Kahutia Bowling Club’s green on Saturday afternoon under ideal conditions. There was a large attendance of .members, and the' .club was also honored by a visit of a team from To Karaka, skipped by J. Murray, which, in a fulLrink game, scored a victory over n. rink skipped by J. J. Martin. Some excellent bowling eventuated and the To Karaka 1 players, judging by their form on Saturday, should be a hard proposition in the Burton Cup contest. Ordinary Game.—Baker, MeLatche, Rolhwell (s.) 18 v. .1. Sawyer, Harris, Bell (s.) 17. Junior Singles.—Roots 20, defeated McKenzie 17; Morris 22, defeated Stevens 20. DAN BARRY SHIELD. . The final game between the winners of the Thursday and Saturday sections, Dudfield and Campbell respectively, created a great deal _ of interest, there being a good attendance of spectators, including a number of ladies. This contest is the principal one of tlie season, and there is always keen rivalry between the members to get their names inscribed on the beautiful shield presented to the club to perpetuate the memory of the late Dan Barry, who in his'day, was a popular president of the Kahutia Club. Dudfield’s rink started off with a single, but did not score again until the eighth head, when they notched another single, Campbell’s score at this stage being 10 to 2. The game then evened up a little, Dudfield scoring on the next two heads with a one and a two. Campbell followed with a single, whilst Dudfield followed - on aiuf gradually crept up, the score at the 16th. head reading: Campbell 12, Dudfield 10. The 17th. head was disastrous to Dudfield. His opponents were lying tine, when Dudiiekl carried the “kittv” and left Campbell lying 5, which gave him a lead of seven -points' with tour heads to go. Dudfield scored a two and a single, bringing his scon* to 13, and Campbell retaliated by scoring singles on tlie two last heads, the game resulting in a win ior Campbell ny 19 to 13. Following were the iearns: Morris. Maekley, Town, Campbell (s) ; Telinck, Leslie, Mdlroy and Dudfield (s.). The final was played in a fine sporting finish, and the winners were heartily congratulated on their success, as were tlie losei s for their efforts. POVERTY BAY DOWLING CLUB. Although the weather did not look very promising, there was a go<sd attendance at the green on Saturday afternoon. A start was made withthe second series *>t club fours.
