Mr. F. W. Nolan was .plotted chairman of the trust. Jt was decided to . have the trrst deed printed and circulated among all amateur sports , bodies which might, hei likely, to need assistance from the fund.

Four grants were decided upon, to meet urgent needs within the knowledge of trustees present, these being as under: A sum, estimated at £l5O, sufficient to purchase - n triple* • mower to he allocated for the. benefit of the hoard of control for the Oval. A grant of £25 "to the Poverty Lav School Sports Association to provide material for winter games. A grant of a sufficient amount to provide a . permanent. trophy for third-grade football club competitions.

A grant of £2O .for .the purchase of. a. roller for use -on tho High School chiving fields. As will he seen bv the above sums era 11 ted, . tbe,, trustees have- not ; eenfined, their work to the distribution of cups and trophies, hut have placed a wider interpretation in the danse in the deed which directs that the fund shall he available for the promotion of sport by means which seem to the trustees most likely tc have permanent results. The initial grants mav be regarded as worth’ r ones ca'cnlated to benefit sport directly and the town indrectly.
