Mr. Scu 11 in announced that lie has decided to invite 'representatives of the northern colliery owners and the Miners’ federation to confer with him on Saturday regarding the trouble on the northern fields. The proprietors have agreed to attend, but have firmly refused to confer with the men except on the terms ol the November compromise. The Northern'Collieries Association oHieials announced that oyer 4000 applications have been received for employment iii‘the'mines.
