Yor. onica fell overboard from the ferry steamer Make! a near Devonport at 5.30 last- night. A boat with' a crew of four was sent- out from the Philomel as soon as the accident- was reported, but after cruising for two hours with the searchlight going incessantly, no trace of the man could he found. Later. The sailor was Syivanus John Peu_ golly, leading stoker on H.M.S. Laburnum. No trace of him has yet been found. LAD INJURED IN -MOTOR COLLISION. {Press Association ) INVERCARGILL, Feb. 2 Norman Baird, a lad aged 13, residing at Myros Bush, was travelling with his father in a motor car when a collision occurred on Saturday evening about 7.30 with another motor-car at the intersection of Ellis road and Tav street. Tile lad was admitted to hospital with a Lac; cut in the head, caused by splintered, glass. A few stitches were inserted and Ins condition is reported to be quite favorable.
