THE BOXING BOOM
FRIZ HOLLAND'S HONING SCHOOLS. ..Ml-., ('’rite Holland lnt> , returned from his trip to lUiatorin, Tokomarii Hay and Tolaga. Hay. where he held meetings for "the purpose of organising boxing, dieses, in those centres. He' reports that, at the latter' two places, there was nil enthusiastic! response. At Runtorin the residents are so widely scattered that the fact that there was to have been a meeting was not known to all. Nevertheless, he had nil opportunity ot, meeting many of the sports of tile place and there seems to be n keen interest * in 'the;, proposal to form a class-' there. Ruatorin. • however, is somewhat isolated and too distant to he included in the' present circuit. Later on, says Mr. Holland, he may go there for a fortnight or inore and give their lads lessons on, consecutive nights, as lie does not want to neglect any of the places where a. class, is desired, even though; the classes; should be barely large enough to pay-expenses. This 1 aspect of the ’, business vis another ■advantage 'made • ’possible bv th<s* honorary membership scheme of his N.Z. boxing schools system. • : Te Tvaraka, it is understood, has’ a. bumper class awaiting Mi- Holland's arrival. Already honorary’ members from there have enrolled in the Gisborne school. Te Karaka hasfor-»--lojig time, been a . strong boxing centre, and if this branch of Mr. Holland’s circuit is established other districts will need to look after their laurels. The Gisborne., class, meets again to-night in .Lvs'ii'urV! Hall.'
