YOUNG MAN DROWNED. (Press Association.). ' WELLINGTON,’ Jan. 2C. While* bathing with half a dozen other voting men in the Hutt river to-day' about half way between Melliflgton bridge and the old bridge at Lower Hutt, Robert Arthur Woodhtun, a young man, aged ID years, lost his life through drowning. Woodham resided with his parents at No. 6 Hutt road and was a , plumber's apprentice. The accident took place at, 12.30 p.m. and ih' is ■’supposed that' lie must have struck his head either on the river bed or on some submerged object, which rendered, him unconscious. Ho was removed Troiii the water in a very short space of time and * was subsequently attended to by Hr. 15. J. Dudley, of -Lower Hutt. All attempts at resuseiation, however, proved in vain and life was pronounced extinct. An inquest u ill be held.
YOUTH LOSES LIFE AT CASTLECLIFF. (Press Association.) WANGANUI. Jam 26. No trace has been found of the bodv of Maxwell Kerr Garrick, of Auckland, who was drowned at. Castlecliff Beach on Saturday. He had been here a few hours at the most on; a visit and went, bathing. He is" 18 years of ’age ‘arid ail only son. bis parents residing at Ngaromn road, Epsom.
