How many of those who find pleasure in chrysanthemums are aware that the first of the species ever grown in England is still on exhibition? The plant, one ot the small vollow-llowered variety, was reared at the Botanic Garden, Chelsea, m 1764 and Philip Miller, the iamous gardener, preserved some of the dowel's. The plant itself died after flowering only once, but one of the preserved blossoms found its way to the herbarium of the British Museum, where it may still bo seen.
