WELLINGTON, .J an, ; 2. “I am glad to say I am well on the road to complete recovery, and soon I hope to be able to travel New Zealand to shako the hands of my many friends,” said tlio Prime Minister (Sir Joseph Ward) to-night in the course or a New Year’s message broadcast from his Horetaunga residence through station 2YA, .Wellington. “I. want to thank the people of Now Zealand lor their sympathy and kindness to me during my illness,” added Sir Joseph, “inquiries have been mado from all parts of New Zealand, and from friends in all political parties, so that I, as Prime Minister, do not coansider I represent one party, but that I represent the people of New Zealand as a whole.
“I am pleased to say,” Sir Joseph stated, “that the financos of the country have kept up well, and it tills one with hope that, at the end of the financial year, we- will have a credit balance, irrespective of tbo unusual and heavy expenditure that has occurred on account of the earthquake and unemployment, both of which have been assisted largely, from loan moneys.”
