Odin (£1863) was made a good favorite, with Taumai (£1,485) and Pikimai (£944) also in demand. Odm showed out, and as they came to the- double he was going, easily in ■ front of Tarnpoen and Pikimai. Only three competitors faced the starter in the annual King’s, road cycle race, run under the auspices of the Gisborne Amateur Athletics and Harrier Club' yesterday, J. Hibbert (handicap 125 sec.) carried off the event by a wheel from P. Markie (15050 e.). with G. Thompson (lOOsec.) third. Thompson, who was 17- .seconds beliind ill his handicap at the turn into King’s road,; started to make up leeway, but. had the misfortune to meet a small mob pf,sheep.
