Rather a dragging sale was experienced at Matawhero yards yesterday. though, over the filial stages, when the last of the store sheep were biny offered, there was an improved demand noticeable. The total yarding of stock was considerably lower than at recent sales. STORE SHEER. The entry of store sheep was smaller than that of recent sales, the total being 1,024. The -sale was a dragging one. with nothing keen in the demand, and, after the luncheon adjournment, this was accentuated for some time, alter which some improvement was noticeable. Breeding ewes made np to C.l 8s (id. L and 1. empty ewes £1 ‘is, extra good shorn hoggets £1 Us Bd. wethers to Cl 7s Id. A particularly good line oi breeding ewes was offered from- • Messrs. Williams Bros., Murine i. These had great size and condition, were 6-year-old. and were passed in at £1 8s 6d. Another line from the same vendors was passed at Cl 7s Bd, and both lines were sold privately at the .one price of Cl 8s -id. Rome other lines of breeding ewes were: 114 4 and 3-year, good size and condition, Down rams, .Cl 4s fid; G 9 m.a., good size, fairly good condition, Cl 3s 3d. Empty ewes, which formed a larger proportion than usual of the entry, sold as follows: •55 f. and f.. first-class lot, ,Cl. ‘ls; 120 good mouths, good order. Dairy cattle are still keenly sought, retelling good prices. In fat cattle, there was a small entry of medium quality.
