ANOTHER CAPACITY HOUSE*'

Replete with smart, snappy humor, cover dancing ami delightful vocal and instrumental numbers, the entertainment presented by the J. C. Williamson company, “'The Midn gilt Probes,” at the Opera ..House- last night, scored a big hit with a very large audience. Those, irrepressibly dro.l humorists, Clem Dane and Erie Edgeley, and i vr.-atile Mona Magnet. kept tlm house in hysterical laughter, whilst the other talented members of the company earned,their meed of praise for their artistic performances both vocal and instrumental.

Clem Dawe and Eric Edgley scored heavily w.tli the house on every appearance, ■ their smart repartee, sallies and quips provoking roars of laughter. 'They first made their apnearanee in their inmitab-e comic and original style in a smart humorous duet, and later with Les ’•Yhito and Dorothy White enhanced die r popularity with a farcical episode concerning ‘•Four Boors.” Dawe and Edg ey were also the prino pal fun-makers in the potted pays ‘Little Visitors,” “A Wife's Husband.'’ “The Alusie Store.” “All Nerves, - ’ “Dope,” and “.The Last Shot,” in which they were ably supported by Dorothy White, Alona Magnet, ’Gertie Cromer, Ray Raymond and Les White. Mona Magnet's charming personality again established her a firm favorite with 'the house, her work -a the sketches being of the brightest order, particularly with Clem Dawe and Ronald Stafford in vocal ■uid instrumental numbers, which earned her warm approbation. Win. ferryman ably led thy company in. the opening chorus, “AH the Roys Look Down.” llis tenor voce was also heard to advantage in “An * ild Guitar and An Old Refrain.” One of the outstanding musical numbers of the evening was provided by Gregory IvanofF, the ta euted vioI nist. .whose solos, “Fantaisia on Faust” and “Deep in AJ.y Heart” (from the “Studout Prince”), were exceptionally popular. Dorothy White’s vocal numbers’ were received with prolonged app'au.se. whilst Victor’Bock's renderings of “Songs of A rally” were also much •appreciated liv the house. The company is exceptionally .fortunate in - possessing- so talented a crmbimflion of musicians in the Jazz Orchestra, whose select'ons of operatic and jazz me odies, including “Fascinating Vamp.’’ “Where Do You Work;’.John?” “Get Ruder the Moon,'’ “Wobbly Walk” and ‘■Breeze.” were exceptionally popular with the’house, who demonstrated most enthusiastically-.
