Herrick, the late l idled States Ambassador in Paris, was brought ashore to-day from the French cruiser 'I nu.rvillo. and placed ■ m the eassioln of a- field piece shrouded in hlack and purple, and drawn hy six horses. It was followed for an hour’s journey through silent streets, where people and officials paid their respects. The coffin was then placed oil ihe train for Cleveland, where it will lie. huried.
'I lie warships Marblehead and Ciueiunutti followed thc Tourville into tile- inner harbor at Fort .Jay and tired a 21 guns salute to Hit' hallmasted French Hag. All Hags on the city skyline were, half-masted.
