Despite the disaster on November 15, which wiped out half Rye harbor's manhood, the gallant little village is eager to man a new lifeboat,. for which there are .Jg volunteers, including youngsters woo are relatives, of the drowned. Volunteers opine that they must be ready to help their brother seamen and to maintain tin* reputation of the Rve harbor ..that its lifeboat is able to put out when the ' Dtuigenoss and Hastings lifeboat cannot. The womenfolk say: “Our fathers and grandfathers went errands of mercy and we suppose our husbands and .sons must continue.”
