Interviewed in regard to the.Bnv of Islands' by-election, Sir Joseph Ward stated that owing to the circumstances responsible for bringing about tlie election, and over which neither candidate had any contiol, he had definitely deeded not to put up a candidate. Supporters of the: United Party were, therefore, free to exercise their own discretion in the matter of voting, 'lie organisation remaining strictly neutial. “However.’' "stated Sir Joseph ;it is mv intention to put a candidate up .for the- next- election, regardless of rite number of candidates.”
