Mrs. Yates, living alone in a house in Napier street, owned by Mi_. S J Polgldse, was, awakened at- 2 a.m. by smoke in her bedroom and found the passage filled with dense smoke. She rushed back into the bedroom and climbed through a ; front window safely while the building was in flames. She. suffered considerably from shock. The confined the fire to the kitchen and scullery, find one room.
