A shooting affray occurred ' last night in New Street, Surrey Hills, as a result of which Frederick Blackridge, 24, a laborer, was critically injured and Essie Blackridge his . wife, received l wounds in the arm. and 'shoulder, but they are not serious. John Aunesley, a middleaged man, was arrested, charged With' attempted murder. The police understand that a dispute between the families preceded the shooting. Bfcickiddge and his wife,', with Blackridge,’s brother, went 'to the .New. Street house and kicked the door. The ' injured man, was removed to the hospital; Ho refused toi give much information to the police who, later, went to the. New Street house and were confronted with a shot-gun bub,} luckily, : The man did not fire. The police then made the arrest withorit -resistance.
