A SPIRITUAL VISITOR
UNCANNY EXPERIENCE IN
SAMOA
FIGURE OF ABSENT FRIEND SEEN BY TWO PEOPLE
(Special to the Times.) AUCKLAND, Dec. 28. A family ,in Samoa. recently had a peculiar experience., which should, be of interest to students of spiritualism. It is told by the'Apia correspondent of the Star. Mrs , living near Apia, has been slightly ill, but instead of remaining in bed got up to do some sewing one afternoon. The room in which she was working was in the back of the house, and bright sunshine was streaming through the window on to one of the doors. After she had been working steadily for some time, she happened to look up and observe, framed in the sunlight on the door, the figure of a girl who was regarding her fixedly. The girl was visible only from the waist up. She had her arms folded and had her long' hair brushed, over one shoulder. Mrs —— immediately recognised her as' a girl who some time ago had stayed with her, but who was now living in Samoa. Mrs took in all the details ot the vision, or whatever it was. She then called to her daughter to come. A younger sister heard her mother’s call first and promptly rushed to the room, also to immediately see the figure framed against the door, and to recognise her as their one-time visitor. Neither the mother nor the daughter were afraid, but the daughter, after a time, opened the door, and the figure disappeared, only to reappear in the sunlight when the door was closed again. . Soon it vanished' altogether, leaving a much perplexed family to wonder at the visitation, and speculate vaguely as to what the vision portended. The figure did not speak, but just steadily regarded Mrs ■
