ESTIMATED TO COST £4740.

WORK AS RELIEF MEASURE

The construction of the Macrae public baths is estimated to cost £4/4p, according to figures supplied by the executive of the fund to the Borough Council last night. The Council was asked to proceed with building the baths next winter as unemployment relief works.

The chairman of the committee (Mr F. Toiertonj in a letter to the Council last night, stated: “The executive of the Macrae baths has in hand the Sum of £1G00; by March next year the spin will be nearer £I7OJ. The executive and swimmers generally are very anxious that the baths be proceeded with.’,’ The suggestion had been made and considered by the Council, he proceeded, that a loan should be submitted to the ratepayers, but tins does not seem opportune at this juncture.
