TOO INDEFINITE. WEISSMUL'LEIVR TOUR OF N.Z. APRANGEMELXTS CANCELLED. (Press Associations CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 27. Luo New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association has decided to cancel the arrangements made with Australia for a tour in New Zealand by Johnny Weissmuller, world’s champion sprint swimmer. This decision is due to the fact that the Australian Union lias been unable to give definite information as to whether *\ pissmulier is coming to New Zealand.

Swimming officials in Auckland are prepared for the announcement regarding Weissmuller. • While the Auckland Swimming Centre made arrangements for a visit from Weissmuller, it urged the New Zealand Association to secure definite information from tile Australian Union. At 'last week’s meeting the Centre was emphatic that it would not commit itself, particularly when it was not known for certain in New Zealand whether Weissmuller had accepted a position as coach in Japan. If the reports that he has done so are correct,. W 7 eissm uller will not lie able to compete with amateurs. Had he been brought to New Zealand after accepting the coach’s position, lie would have been able to give demonstration swims only. Since the-, announcement of that tour by Weissmuller was likely, the New Zealand Association has. boon flooded with applications for carnivals.

Brown was appointed, for the ensuing season. The Horetaunga Life Saving and Swimming- Club wrote for. particulars m connection with a recent case; at Te Karaka, where a little girl was nearly drowned.—The secretary was instructed to supply the necessary information.
