OPERATED AMONGST WHARF LABORERS. FINED £23. (Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Nov. 22. Charged with carrying on the business of a bookmaker, Leslie George Donaldson, aged 29, was lined £2O in the Police Court. The Chief Detective said Donaldson was a “silver bettor,” carrying on in a. small way, principally among wharf laborers, tie had been' fined £2O for a similar offence previously. Counsel said accused, who. was'but of employment, was" married, and. had a family. j The Magistrate, Mr Hunt,. in-im-posing the fine, gave accused two weeks in which to pay.
