Rapier shows no ill-effects from the slight mishap that occurred to him in the New Zealand Cup. He is striding along freely in his tasks, and he should lie at his best by Boxing Day, when he may ho included in the Auckland Cup field.
T. Lloyd has not done a great deal with Hoylake since the close of the recent meeting, at which he had there hard races. The. grey horse is expected to make his next appearance in the Auckland Cup and he may play a leading part in that event, although he will have to carry decent weights in future engagements.
The two-year-old Honour, the winner of the Welcome Stakes, is in regular work, in view of other engagements later in the season. He is not nearly at his best yet, hut ho will test the other juveniles severely in tho autumn, if all goes well with him in the meantime.
Spearfelt, winner of the Melbourne Cup and Australian Cups, the Victoria Derby, and other important races, was sold to Mr T. Jennings, of Queensland for 1300 guineas. Bidding for Spearfelt started at 500 guineas. . Mr Sol. Green’s horse. Bachelor’s Temple, was passed in at 825 gus. Bachelor’s Temple is an • Englishbred horse and cost 2600 guineas as a yearling.
