BOXING.
TOKOMARU ASSN.
ANNUAL MEETING
There was a good attendance of members at the annual meeting of the Tokomaru Bay. Boxing Association on Monday night. Mr Ct H. Puflett presided. The report stated that the association had. had a successful year, the tournaments being most satisfactory and despite postponements necessitated by the bad weather which had affected the attendances, the houses had been satisfactory. The election of officers resulted: Patron, Mr A. B. Williams; president, Mr G. H. Puflett; vice-presid-puts, Messrs Huddleston, F. Johnston and P. D,. Moore; committee, Messrs M'. Were, M. L. Holah, J. J. Roberts, J. Porter, V. Lowe and A. N. Wilkins; hon. secretary and treasurer, Mr S. Yeoman; bon. ‘auditor, Mr D. Ramsey. It was decided, at a subsequent meeting of the executive, to stage a' tournament in January, and nego-. Rations will bo entered into, with the object of ascertaining whether an attractive professional match can be arranged. In any case, the association can count on the assistance of numerous amateur boxers on the coast and in Poverty Bay. NOTES AND NEWS. Charlie Purdy lias left once more for Australia. He anticipated engaging in a match a fortnight after his arrival. He" is 'considering the advisability of proceeding to the United States, but this depends upon engagements in Australia. Unless the Aucklander can develop a more aggressive style lie may not meet with the success anticipated. Making an opponent miss badly does not correspond with the accounts of successful pugilists in America.
