ATTEMPTED SUICIDE CHARGE WITHDRAWN. MAN COMMITTED TO MENTAL HOSPITAL. PTARg ARSOolation.i DANNEVIRKE, Nov. 20. When the charge ■ of attempted suicide .against T. H. H Hitchirigs was called before the Magistrate, Mr. J. H. Miller, it was stated by the police that the accused had. been committed to a mental hospital, and Sbrgeant Martin asked that the charge he withdrawn. Hitching® was the man "who, a few days ago,i at his .home at Danrieyirke, early in the morning allegedly presented a loadied gun at Sergeant Martin when he went to the hpuse in response to- an urgent summons owing to the aceused’is peiculiar conduct.; The requests for a withdrawal of the ch arge was granted. : ” , CLAIMED TO HAVE POSTED MONEY YEAR’S BORSTAL FOR, YOUTH <Preas Association.! INVERCARGILL, Nov. 20. ; At the Supreme Court Allen -Edward Tubman aged .'20, ; charged • with fraudulently •,stating- that he had posted a letter f containing money, ■yhereas, in fact, he .had not posted it, appeared ’for sentence. Tubman Had purchased a motor cycle on a time purchase; agreement, _ gnd he was unable- to pay the instalments on -it he claimed to have postfij the amount when he had not done so. Accused was sentenced 1 to twelve months in" a i Borstal ’institution. ;
